The Jets’ new regime suffered its first loss on Sunday, and it was a galling one, a 24-17 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. After spending the first half smothered on offense, gashed on defense and looking sorry on special teams, Gang Green saw a spirited rally fall just short.
It’s a game the Jets will rue, one they essentially gave away in the first half.
The offense had just a single first down at the two-minute warning. Their special teams coughed up an 89-yard punt return score to Darren Sproles. And the most inexplicable — and inexcusable — may have been Brandon Marshall’s brain lock, turning the ball over trying an ill-advised lateral to Jeff Cumberland.
