Jets pay tribute to D'Brickashaw Ferguson at farewell press conference

FLORHAM PARK — Were teammates surprised that D'Brickashaw Ferguson chose to retire after 10 seasons with the Jets?

Depends who you ask.

"It caught me of guard; I wasn't ready for it," said center Nick Mangold, who joined the Jets in 2006, when he and Ferguson were both selected in the first round of the draft.

Guard Willie Colon, who played with Ferguson the last three seasons and has a locker near Ferguson's at One Jets Drive, said he was less surprised that Ferguson chose to bow out now.
