New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is going to the U.K. The Senate confirmed Johnson as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom on Thursday.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Johnson will now give up day-to day control of the Jets.
Christopher Johnson, Woody’s younger brother, will have the role of chairman and CEO of the team and will oversee day-to-day operations.
Woody will be still the owner, but he will live in the United Kingdom for the next three years.
Christopher released a statement after Woody was nominated:
“The New York Jets have been an integral part of our family since 2000, but this is a unique opportunity for Woody.
