Brian Costello reports that Jets OLB Lorenzo Mauldin will likely require season-ending surgery for a back injury that to him being placed on injured reserve.
According to Costello, Mauldin plans to get a second opinion but it looks unlikely that he’ll return this year.
Mauldin, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Jets back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3,008,016 contract and stands to make a base salary of $633,000 for the 2017 season.
Mauldin was arrested this summer for misdemeanor assault for an alleged attack that occurred at New York nightclub back in April.
