Former Jets linebacker Demario Davis agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract with the Browns on Wednesday, according to a source. He will get $4 million guaranteed.
The Jets selected Davis in the third round of the 2012 Draft. He became a starter at inside linebacker in 2013 and started 51 games for the team. Former coach Rex Ryan once compared Davis’ leadership abilities to those of legendary Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.
Davis had a disappointing 2015 season under new coach Todd Bowles, struggling in pass coverage and missing 16 tackles, according to Pro Football Focus. The Jets did not have much interest in bringing him back.
