FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Jets said Monday that linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin, who was carried off the field Sunday after sustaining a brain injury in the second half of the team’s game against the Cleveland Browns, was released from the hospital. The diagnosis was a concussion, the team said, without elaborating further about the severity of the trauma or his condition.
Mauldin, a rookie who played college football at Louisville, crumpled to the turf and lay motionless after being involved in a sack of Cleveland quarterback Johnny Manziel early in the fourth quarter.
Jets Coach Todd Bowles said after the game that he was “very worried” about Mauldin, who received a police escort to Mount Sinai Hospital and remained overnight for observation.
