In training camp last year, Jets outside linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin was positioning himself to perhaps start opposite Jordan Jenkins.
Now, after missing all of 2017 due to a back injury, Mauldin is working with the third-string defense in practice. The former third-round draft pick -- who overhauled his body and pass rushing technique in the offseason -- finds himself squarely on the roster bubble as he enters the fourth and final year of his rookie contract.
But between Saturday's Green and White scrimmage at Rutgers and the Jets' four preseason games, Mauldin is ready to show coach Todd Bowles he deserves to stick around.
