Jets inside linebacker Avery Williamson will miss the 2019 season with a torn ACL, a source confirmed to Newsday's Al Iannazzone.
Williamson suffered the injury while playing with the second-string defense during Thursday night's preseason game against the Falcons in Atlanta. His knee collided with cornerback Tevaughn Campbell late in the second quarter.
Williamson was slated to start next to free-agent signee C.J. Mosley in the heart of the Jets' defense this year. The 27-year-old Williamson led the Jets last season with 120 combined tackles and also had six passes defensed, three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
