Prized rookie defensive lineman Leonard Williams plans to be ready for Week 1.
The Jets’ first-round pick out of USC, who suffered a muscle strain behind his knee in Saturday’s preseason victory over the Giants, already is feeling better after an MRI on Sunday revealed no structural damage.
“I’ll definitely be ready by Week 1,” he said.
Jets coach Todd Bowles echoed Williams, saying he’s hopeful to have Williams for the opener against the Browns. Williams was told it will be a five-to-seven day injury and expects to return to practice next week. He worked with trainers during Monday’s practice.
