The Jets lost a member of their family Tuesday night when longtime tackle Winston Hill died at the age of 74.
Hill played 14 seasons for the Jets and was the starting left tackle in Super Bowl III, the Jets’ lone championship. Hill played 195 consecutive games, a franchise record for offensive linemen. He put the streak together despite a broken leg in the 1965 preseason and having his throat stepped on in 1974, according to the team’s website.
The Colts selected Hill in the 11th round of the 1963 NFL Draft out of Texas Southern.
