There's a new rule at One Jets Drive, and it does not bode well for a team that was penalized 17 times in its second preseason game last Friday.
Frustrated with the infractions, coach Todd Bowles instituted a new edict to curb the sloppy play. His players will run gassers if more than five penalties are whistled in a practice. On Wednesday, the Jets committed six penalties. They ran the width of the field for punitive purposes before practice concluded with a walk-thru.
"I know professional guys don't want to run," said Bowles, who ran his players when fights broke out earlier in training camp.
