ARLINGTON, Tex. — Kenbrell Thompkins’ heroics started before he hauled in a critical, 43-yard pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to set up the Jets’ winning field goal in their 19-16 victory against the Cowboys Saturday.
Thompkins, a backup receiver who had just 11 catches for the Jets heading into the game, noticed that he could get open down the sideline against cover-two coverage and alerted Fitzpatrick.

“Pretty much just the whole shot. In cover-two, sometimes corners, they get a little lazy sometimes,” Thompkins said.
