Jets give up on Calvin Pryor in trade that brings back linebacker

Sports

The Jets dumped former first-round pick Calvin Pryor on Thursday, trading him to the Browns for former Jets linebacker Demario Davis, according to sources.

Pryor, the team’s first-round pick in 2014, had clearly fallen out of favor with the current Jets regime. The Jets drafted safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye in the first two rounds of this year’s draft. They then declined to pick up the 2018 option on Pryor’s contract. During Tuesday’s OTA practice that was open to the media, Pryor worked with the third-team defense.

Davis returns to the Jets after spending the first four years of his career with the team.
