The Jets will get an extra third-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
The NFL announced its compensatory picks for the 2017 draft on Friday, and the Jets were among the 16 teams who received an extra pick. They received the 43rd selection in the third round (107th overall).
Compensatory picks are awarded if a team loses more or better compensatory free agents (which are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors) than it acquires in the previous year. The Jets lost Demario Davis, Damon Harrison and Chris Ivory in free agency last offseason, but signed Matt Forte and Steve McLendon.
