The search for a return man has sometimes felt endless for the Jets. After a decade of big returns under former special teams coach Mike Westhoff, they had a drought of six years without a return for a touchdown until Monday night.
That is when Andre Roberts went 78 yards for a huge third-quarter touchdown that put the Jets up 38-17 and basically finished off the Lions. The return spot was a question even after the team signed Roberts this offseason because it is a hard to evaluate returns in training camp practices or the preseason when teams are trying to evaluate bottom-of-the-roster players.
