The Jets may have found their defensive coordinator.
The team is finalizing a deal with former Browns defensive coordinator and interim head coach Gregg Williams to become their defensive coordinator, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
The news comes a day after the Jets introduced Adam Gase as their head coach, but according to Schefter, Williams was the Jets' primary defenive coordinator target no matter who the head coach was.
NFL Network's Ian Rappoport reported Friday that the Jets were "on the verge" of hiring Williams.
Williams is known as an aggressive defensive playcaller who likes to keep quarterbacks and offenses off-balance with his exotic blitz packages.
