The Jets will be without Eric Decker much longer than anticipated. Fourteen months, at the very least.
The team announced that their star wide receiver underwent hip surgery on Tuesday.
Decker, their best red-zone option last season, was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 12 because of a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder. But according to the team, doctors deemed that hip surgery was “necessary” during an evaluation after Decker was placed on IR.
The recovery time for his hip surgery is six months. Then, when he’s off crutches, he’ll undergo shoulder surgery.
According to the Jets, the estimated recovery time for the second procedure is eight months.
