Jets defense has milestone performance it needed

The Jets defense was bending, but didn’t break on Sunday against the Dolphins.

Miami gained 362 yards, but scored no touchdowns. The Jets held the Dolphins without a touchdown on six red-zone possessions, becoming only the fourth team since 1991 to hold an opponent without a touchdown in at least six red-zone opportunities.

“The job they did in the red zone was impressive,” Jets coach Adam Gase said. “That was one of the main points going into the game was how well they’ve been playing in the red zone and how they’ve been avoiding the field goals; they’ve been scoring touchdowns.
