Jets decline 2017 option on dud Dee Milliner

The Jets decided not to pick up the fifth-year option for 2017 on cornerback Dee Milliner.

Milliner, whom the team drafted with the ninth overall pick in 2013, has been an injury-prone disappointment. He has played just 21 games in three years, starting 14. He has three career interceptions.

Milliner played just five games last season after undergoing wrist surgery in August.

The team did pick up the option on their other 2013 first-round pick: defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. It will pay Richardson around $8 million.

The options are guaranteed only for injury.
