The Jets have given up on Jace Amaro.
Two days after telling reporters that he wasn’t worried about his roster spot, a source confirmed to Newsday that the third-year tight end was one of several cuts made as the team slashed its roster to 53.
Amaro, a second-round pick of former general manager John Idzik’s in 2014, was one of several noteworthy cuts announced on Saturday, including wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins and 2013 draft-pick Tommy Bohanon.
The Jets also released tight ends Zach Sudfeld and Wes Saxton, leaving Kellen Davis and Brandon Bostick as their current 1-2 punch at the position.
