Jets cut David Harris in shocking move

In a stunning move, the Jets are releasing veteran linebacker David Harris, according to a source.

Harris was thought to be safe from the Jets’ purge of veterans after he survived the initial wave of cuts by the team in February and March. But the 33-year-old apparently did not fit into their plans. They save $6.5 million in cash and against the salary cap by releasing him.

Harris has been the main man in the middle of the Jets defense since the team drafted him in the second round in 2007. He is second all-time in franchise history with 1,251 tackles, behind only Kyle Clifton.
