Defensive line coach Pepper Johnson met with reporters Monday after refusing to take questions last week.
Johnson acknowledged he was pushed by coach Todd Bowles to meet with the media, something required of assistant coaches once during the regular season.
“There’s not much to say,” Johnson said. “I think it’s all a waste of time, but I have to come here. I’m just fulfilling my obligation.”
Most people view Johnson’s unit as part of the problem for the underachieving Jets this season. Outside of second-year star Leonard Williams, the group has been disappointing. Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson have combined for four sacks.
