PHOENIX — After spending more than $120 million in free agency, Jets CEO Christopher Johnson expects his team to be better — much better.
“I sure as hell hope we’re a playoff team,” Johnson said Sunday at the annual league meetings. “Look, I want to win every game. We can’t get there fast enough. I’ve said it before: I’m an impatient man. I want this team to win. I think we have a really good chance to be a quite good team this year.”
Johnson said he would not deliver a playoffs-or-else mandate for general manager Mike Maccagnan or new coach Adam Gase, but he clearly has elevated expectations after the team’s spending spree.
