The fourth-year journeyman wide receiver is pushing hard for a spot on the Jets' initial 53-man roster. Bowles recently said McBride's performance on special teams could help his cause. McBride returned punts Monday with Andre Roberts (the presumptive punt returner) and Lucky Whitehead. Bowles doesn't have his eye on McBride as a return man — he was just back there to get some work Monday — but rather, as a punt/kickoff coverage guy. Still, the more a player like McBride can do, the better. McBride also made a great, leaping catch in a one-on-one period against Rashard Robinson. A good day for McBride, who is making a late push here.
