Jets, Bruce Carter agree to a deal, source says

After making the free-agent rounds, Bruce Carter has landed with the Jets.

The former Bucs and Cowboys linebacker has agreed to a one-year deal with the team, a source confirmed to Newsday.

The Jets entered free agency looking to add depth and athleticism to their linebacking corps. Former 2012 draft pick Demario Davis signed with the Browns last month, but last week the organization re-signed linebacker Erin Henderson, who split reps with Davis toward the end of last season.

Carter, who visited with the Jets on Wednesday, also met with the Lions and Bills in recent days.
