Jets beat Browns in opener but lose Antonio Cromartie to knee injury

The Jets secondary took a massive hit Sunday in the second quarter of the season opener.

Veteran cornerback Antonio Cromartie had to be carted off the field with an apparent knee injury sustained against the Cleveland Browns.

The injury was non-contact and occurred as Cromartie was trying to run up the field. The Jets termed his return to the game doubtful.

Cromartie lay on the ground for several minutes surrounded by five people from the Jets' medical staff. As members of the Jets secondary knelt nearby, Cromartie pounded his fist against the turf and shook his head, as if he knew the injury could potentially be serious.
