Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan had high praise for rookie quarterback Sam Darnold in a radio interview Monday.
Appearing on “Boomer and Gio” on WFAN, Maccagnan said Darnold has been “unflappable” and he is “exceptionally impressed” with the rookie.
“They’ve thrown everything at him, in terms of the offense,” Maccagnan said. “He’s handled it, he’s moved on, and he’s done well with it. But every day he goes out there, he gets a little better.”
The Jets broke training camp Sunday and shifted into regular-season practice mode Monday. That meant more game-plan specific periods with the Jets preparing for Friday’s preseason game against the Giants and beginning work on the regular-season opener in Detroit.
