The Jets on Wednesday finally made the expected official, when they announced the promotion of quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates to offensive coordinator. He replaces John Morton, who was fired after just one season.
Bates will continue to coach the Jets' quarterbacks, after they didn't land former Lions quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan. He took that job in Oakland.
Another expected hire announced Wednesday: Recently fired Bills offensive coordinator Rick Dennison is now the Jets' offensive line coach and running game coordinator. He replaces Steve Marshall, who was fired. Dennison gets the extra title that Marshall didn't have.
