Jets agree to sign Trevor Siemian to fill backup QB void

The Jets have a new backup quarterback for Sam Darnold.

The team and free agent Trevor Siemian agreed to a deal, his agent announced on Twitter. A source said it is a one-year, $2 million deal with a maximum value of $3 million.

Siemian, 27, spent last season with the Vikings but never got into a game. He spent the previous three seasons with the Broncos, the team that drafted him in the seventh round in 2015. He went 13-11 as a starter in Denver. He has 30 career touchdowns and 24 interceptions.

The Jets are moving on from Josh McCown, who backed up Darnold last year.
