New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan reached into his Houston past, signing former Texans cornerback Darryl Morris to a one-year contract on Friday -- an under-the-radar move that should help the special-teams unit.
At the start of the offseason, the Jets targeted special teams as a priority area. In 12 games last season, Morris, 25, played 135 snaps on special teams, recording seven tackles.
Morris (5-foot-10, 188 pounds) was a restricted free agent, but he wasn't tendered by the Texans, making him unrestricted.
