Jets offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates on Thursday delivered what could be considered a damning indictment of his players' effort.
Bates was asked why the Jets weren't able to get a running game going in Sunday's loss at the Bears. The Jets for just 57 yards, compared to 71 a week earlier in a loss to the Vikings.
"I think coach said it the best: They played harder than us," Bates said.
He was presumably talking about Jets coach Todd Bowles, though Bowles must have made those comments to the team, because he didn't say them to reporters after the game.
