John Idzik can start disappointing an NFL fan base on a full-time basis again.
The former Jets general manager was hired by the Jaguars as special assistant to the GM on Thursday, six months after a brief and failed stint running Gang Green. Idzik had been consulting for the Jaguars for the past three months.
Idzik will have a varied role with Jacksonville that will include both cap management as well as both college and pro scouting. He is known for his salary-cap expertise but does not have much of a scouting background.
“John Idzik will be wearing many hats for us,” Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said in a statement.
