It’s Week 2 and the biggest Jets patch-up job is already tested

Mike Maccagnan spent tens of millions from his war chest in his first summer as Jets general manager upgrading predecessor John Idzik’s punchline-worthy depth chart at cornerback. He imported the likes of Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine.

Now it’s Week 2 of the Maccagnan era, and that cornerback depth is about to be put to the test.

Cromartie and fellow cornerback Darrin Walls sat out the part of Friday’s practice open to the media, leaving their availability in doubt for Gang Green’s Monday night game in Indianapolis.

Cromartie suffered a sprained left knee injury in last Sunday’s season opener, and had been termed week-to-week.
