Is Mike Maccagnan the right guy to spend Jets' $100 million? | Mailbag

The last two offseasons weren't easy for the Jets. They had players they wanted to retain, others they hoped to add in free agency. But instead, general manager Mike Maccagnan was forced to scour the discount pile for bargain-buys. The cap-strapped Jets didn't have the money to compete for top-tier free agents.

That won't be the case in 2018.

After a few expected cuts (Muhammad Wilkerson, Ben Ijalana, Buster Skrine, Matt Forte), the Jets will enter free agency with more than $100 million in cap space. That's the third highest total in the league, and more than enough to make a splash.
