The Jets are going international in their search for talent. In return, an Australian rugby star is risking millions of dollars for a shot at the NFL.
Valentine Holmes was allocated to the Jets on Monday as part of the International Player Pathway program. Listed as a running back/wide receiver/kick returner, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Holmes will be on the Jets’ offseason roster through the end of training camp, at which point he can be added as an 11th member of the practice squad, ineligible to be activated during the season.
The 23-year-old Holmes left his $5 million (AUS) contract with Cronulla of the National Rugby League, according to news.
