It’s clear from studying estimated “market” power ratings in the NFL that the composite intelligence driving point spreads is having a heck of a time tracking erratic teams.
Some examples:
— The New York Jets recently covered three straight games by double digits, seemingly establishing an ability to dominate bad opponents. Then, last week, a disaster against previously winless Cincinnati that missed the market 18¹/u2082 points in the other direction.
— Their opponent Sunday, the Miami Dolphins (1 p.m., CBS), have been more erratic for longer.
