KANSAS CITY, Mo. — If you are a Jets fan, there is really only one way to root here. On the one side of the field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday will be the Steelers: as old-school NFL as old-school NFL can be. As regularly and routinely successful as any franchise in any sport, ever.
On the other side will be the Jets.
Only shaded red, instead of green.
The Jets and Chiefs share old AFL ties, yes, so that’s one reason they are close-knit football cousins. The Chiefs were born in Dallas as the Texans, then sought refuge in Kansas City, at old Municipal Stadium, where they became not only as iconic in Kansas City as good barbecue and freezing winters, but the Midwest’s team, too, their pull felt in Oklahoma and Wyoming and even parts of Colorado in addition to Kansas and Missouri.
