How John Morton plans to jump-start Jets' offense early in games

FLORHAM PARK -- The Jets labored through an incompetent offensive start in last Sunday's 17-14 win at the Browns. And they know that won't fly this week against the Patriots, whose prolific offense will likely set a high bar for the Jets to match.

So Jets offensive coordinator John Morton altered the start of Thursday's practice. Right after stretching (which begins practice), he gathered his offense for a full-speed, walk-through period, with play calls, against no defense. Usually, the Jets break into individual drills after stretching.

Morton called it a "team take-off" period, and its presence Thursday wasn't a surprise to his players, because he told them about it in a pre-practice meeting.
