JERSEY CITY – Memo to Josh Boyer, Jason McCourty’s new teammates and fans, and anyone else who gets face-to-face with the NFL’s most popular identical twin brothers: Look for the chicken pox scars.
Boyer is the New England Patriots cornerbacks coach who made the mistake feared by even those who have known Devin and Jason McCourty since they were teammates at St. Joseph-Montvale High School and Rutgers. He confused the twins, giving the wrong coaching instructions to Jason.
They now are part of the same secondary again, after Jason was traded in March by the Browns to the Patriots, where Devin (27 minutes older and happy to boast about big-brother status) is a two-time Super Bowl champion entering his ninth season.
