Former Jets receiver could be Tom Brady’s next favorite

Eric Decker’s return to the AFC East appears imminent.

The Patriots brought in the 31-year-old for a workout Monday, according to ESPN, and a day later they cut receiver Jordan Matthews over an apparent hamstring injury.

A deal with Decker has yet to materialize, but he could be a natural fit in New England’s receiving corps. Tom Brady favorite Julian Edelman is suspended for the first four games of the season, while fellow veterans Kenny Britt and Malcolm Mitchell are injured.

The Patriots lost Danny Amendola to the Dolphins in free agency, while Brandin Cooks was traded to the Rams.
