CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mike Tannenbaum has admitted that one of his biggest regrets as general manager of the Jets was cutting Jerricho Cotchery after the 2010 season.
The Panthers certainly are glad Tannenbaum did, because they might not be on the brink of a trip to the Super Bowl this week without the soft-spoken, sure-handed wide receiver.
Cotchery isn’t one of the big names and doesn’t put up big numbers, but the oldest-drafted Jet still playing in the NFL does enough of the little things — and does them with such disciplined reliability — that Cam Newton has nicknamed him “Jerricho McClutchery.
