The Jets drafted running back Eli McGuire in Round 6 last year, and he carried 88 times for 315 yards and one touchdown as a rookie. He gained 3.6 yards per carry. He caught 17 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown. A solid enough start to his career.
But Jets running backs coach Stump Mitchell thinks McGuire can do so much more. Mitchell on Thursday actually compared McGuire to Hall of Fame ex-Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson -- which was unexpected, to say the least.
"Wow, Eli looks fantastic, to be perfectly honest," Mitchell said as the Jets concluded minicamp.
