Tony Sparano, a longtime NFL coach who was the offensive coordinator for the Jets in 2012, died Sunday in Minnesota. He was 56.
Sparano was the Vikings’ offensive line coach and had been since 2016. His death comes days before the Vikings were set to report to training camp.
“Our hearts go out to [wife] Jeanette and the entire Sparano family as we all mourn the loss of Tony,” Vikings owners Mark and Zygi Wilf said in a statement. “Tony was a passionate and driven individual who cared deeply about his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
