Ex-Jets GM wastes no time scooping up his own draft bust

The Jets won’t have to wait long to see their former teammate, Quinton Coples. The Dolphins claimed Coples off waivers Tuesday, one day after the Jets waived him. Miami faces the Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Dolphins vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets’ general manager in 2012 when the team selected Coples with the 16th overall pick.

The Jets dumped Coples on Monday after his playing time dwindled to almost nothing under new coach Todd Bowles. The Dolphins are a better fit for Coples, who will slide onto the defensive line in their 4-3 scheme rather than being a stand-up outside linebacker in the 3-4.
