Ex-Jets defensive end Mike DeVito retires

Ex-Jets defensive lineman Mike DeVito announced his retirement on Monday.

DeVito played for the Jets from 2007-12 and for the Chiefs from 2013-15. He turns 32 in June. DeVito entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Jets in 2007.

During his six seasons with the Jets, he wound up starting 38 games (with 82 total games played). He forced six fumbles and had 2½ sacks. DeVito finished his career with 5½ sacks in 110 games played (with 57 starts).

He also totaled one sack and one forced fumble in nine career playoff games, including six with the Jets, as they reached the AFC Championship Game in both 2009 and 2010.
