D'Brickashaw Ferguson made it official on Saturday, formalizing his retirement with a farewell letter to New York Jets fans.
The letter is so Brick -- thoughtful and well-written. Essentially, he outlined two reasons for his decision: He says "the difficulty in playing up to (his usual) level began to increase." He also says he "recognized a desire in myself to pursue other goals in life." He doesn't address the proposed pay cut, although he makes a passing reference to money, saying he "never wanted to define myself by the size of a potential contract.
