The Jets' running back room will be one player short for the foreseeable future.
Eli McGuire, the Jets' 2017 sixth-round draft pick, limped off the practice field on Friday and news emerged Saturday that he needs surgery to repair a broken foot, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Head coach Todd Bowles said Saturday that he was unsure if McGuire needed surgery, adding that there is currently no timetable on his return.
But it seems clear that the Jets anticipate being without McGuire for a while because they have apparently already started shopping for running backs.
