FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — A day after Sammy Watkins set up shop on Revis Island, Todd Bowles expressed nothing but confidence in star cornerback.
Asked on Monday if he thought Darrelle Revis is still elite, the Jets head coach replied: “Yes I do.”
Thanks to soft coverage by Revis and defensive breakdowns, Watkins hauled in a career-high 11 catches for 136 yards in a 22-17 Bills’ victory that knocked the Jets out of playoff contention.
Revis was so frustrated by the loss on Sunday that he left without speaking to reporters after the game. He talked about it on Monday at practice: “It’s a battle back and forth,” he said.
