Could Kony Ealy addition be bad news for Jets' Lorenzo Mauldin?

The Jets offense may be in dire shape, but it's defensive reinforcements on the way.

On Monday, one day after a 32-31 loss to the Giants in the third preseason game, the Jets claimed ex-Panthers, Patriots defensive end Kony Ealy off the waiver wire. The 2014 second-round pick figures to provide insurance as an edge rusher, and yet another young defender for coach Todd Bowles to develop.

But could Ealy's addition be bad news for Jets linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin?

Ealy, 24, is a 4-3 defensive end by nature. He played the spot with Carolina (2014-2016), and this summer with the Patriots before his release.
