Could Jets get away with designating Mo Wilkerson as post-June 1 cut?

The Jets have until March 15 to cut defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, a chronically tardy bust. That's because his $16.75 million salary for 2018 becomes fully guaranteed if he is on the Jets' roster on the third day of the league year, which is March 16.

While the Jets have a firm deadline for when they need to cut Wilkerson, they have a couple options for how to cut him.

If Wilkerson were to remain with the Jets in 2018, he would carry a $20 million salary cap figure.
